In a regenerative blower, the compression space consists of a circular hollow ring between the blade tips and the casing walls. In operation, the rotation of the impeller draws air from the inlet port into the compression space and moves it radially outward from the casing by centrifugal force. The action is called “regenerative” because the air passes through the impeller blades and returns to the base of the next blade to create re-acceleration. Regenerative blowers offer performance comparable to multi-stage or positive displacement blowers and offer reliable, low-maintenance operation.
